Boil Lancing : Don’t Try This At Home
Any of the different types of boils can be very distressing and extremely painful. If great care is not taken they can also quite easily become severely infected. This will mean a boil will take longer and be more difficult to heal, it will also of course be more painful. If you do have an infected boil, then the chances are you are going to need to take the advice of a medical professional.
When you visit your doctor, or other medical professional and he diagnoses an infected boil, he may be able to treat it by prescribing anti-biotics. However some Staph infections (for example MRSA) are becoming increasingly resistant to the use of anti-biotics and therefore there is no guarantee that they will work. If an anti-biotic does clear up teh infection, and the boil heals, there is a high chance of the infection recurring.
An alternative to the prescribing of anti-biotics is to have the boil surgically lanced. Now remember you should never try and lance an infected boil yourself. Not only can it be extremely painful, it is very easy to spread the infection, which in turn could lead to further infected boils developing. Also if you do not manage to drain all the infected pus from the boil, it will not heal.
If a doctor or other medical professional surgically lances your infected boil it will present the best chance of it healing fully and not recurring. (although this cannot be guaranteed)
Firstly they will cut into the boil using sterile equipment, then they will drain the infected pus and clean the area. Depending on the size and severity of the boil and the resulting boil, a couple of stitches may be required.
This procedure, although routine, can non the less be very painful. Unfortunately in many cases you will find that the infection re-occurs, requiring further lancing.
There is an all natural product called <Boil X, which if taken as soon as you detect the beginnings of a boil, can help to ease the severity of the boil and aid the natural healing process, so that painful lancing is not required.
